Artist STatement

White gesso disgusts me.

I am an oil painter from Cincinnati. I utilize oil paints to add figurative elements that leave an impression of lines and shapes, disrupting the simplicity of the blank canvas. I use an unbalanced, haphazard depiction of the human figure as well as defective aspects that are visible at first glance. My twin sister has always cast a shadow over me, so I struggle to understand who I was and am today. My paintings stress bold, textural brushstrokes and an overabundance of color to draw the viewer in.

We are all obsessed with initial impressions as humans. This is dependent on how we see things and the type of home we were raised in. In order to convey the unvarnished idea that perfection is not realistically achievable, I deliberately did not stretch my canvas.

Gallery Works

I'm currently working on an oil painting reflecting my identity, looking into my flaws from the outside in. You can't speak properly to spread rumors.
